Our staff includes the following instructors:
Kristine Larson - Piano, Voice and Flute Instructor
Teaching in the Houston area for 18 years, she pursued music studies in jazz ensemble and classical voice while completing a B.F.A. in studio arts at the University of Houston. Since 2005 she has served in the Kingwood area as volunteer music coordinator, vocalist and worship.
Grant Johnson - Owner, Guitar and Bass Instructor
Graduate of The Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA. 28 years professional teaching, recording and performing experience. All contemporary styles including praise and worship.
Johnny Foster - Piano Instructor
Johnny has been a private piano teacher since 2006. He has performed locally and nationally in Country, Rock, Gospel and Variety bands. Johnny has played on over 300 studio recordings and has appeared on “Good Morning Houston.” He currently performs in the Lonestar Cowboy Church Praise band where he won Keyboardist/Pianist of the year at the Texas Country Music Awards for 2022.
Robert Calva - Guitar Instructor
Robert has studied at the University of North Texas and The Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, Ca. While a student at G.I.T. Robert was given the Oustanding Student of The Year award for 1991-92. Robert subsequently became an instructor there in 1993. He has played with Bo Diddley, Tim Bogert, Chevy Chase, Floyd Radford, Deacan Jones, Joe Houston, and countless others.
Christopher James - Voice Instructor Christopher holds a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance From the University of Texas, Butler School of Music at Austin. He currently performs with the Houston Grand Opera and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
Kathy Brinkman - Piano and Preschool Instructor
25 years experience. Associate degree in Liberal Arts from Lee Collage in Baytown Texas. Studied Elementary Education at the University of Houston. She was on staff at St. Martha Catholic Church private school in Kingwood, Texas where she developed curriculum for preschool through eighth grade. She also was responsible for directing musical programs.
Kathleen Mohn - Violin Instructor Kathleen Hennessey Mohn began studying the violin at a very early age. She studied under Dorothy Croft, Margaret Pardee and Robert Davidovici. She attended the University of North Texas where she majored in Music education. She has performed with numerous celebrities including Benny Goodman, Chet Atkins, Dave Bruebeck and the UNT One O'clock Lab Band.
Chris Sevon - Drum Instructor Chris has come to us with over 30 years of drumming experience. He received his degree in music business and recording technology from San Jacinto College and studied music education at Sam Houston State. Chris began his drum journey studing with local drummers Rod Roberts, Scott Griffin and Joel Fulgham (drum set player for the Houston Symphony). He Later studied drum kit and percussion with James Metcalfe and Mike Mizma at San Jacinto College. Chris has played with several local bands over the years and has 15 years of worship band experience. As well as drums, Chris also plays trombone and piano.
